Climate Adaptation Finance Tracker

Project-level tracking of adaptation and resilience finance commitments and disbursements across 112 recipient countries.

Overview

The Climate Adaptation Finance Tracker records adaptation and resilience finance commitments and disbursements at project level, matching pledges to disbursement where donor and multilateral disclosure allows, across 112 recipient countries. Projects are tagged by adaptation sub-sector using a Rio-marker-derived internal classification, documented in the codebook, and the tracker distinguishes committed from disbursed amounts rather than reporting a single blended figure — a distinction that matters given well-documented gaps between the two in adaptation finance. It is intended to support comparative study of financing flows for governments, donors and researchers, and it does not adjudicate disputed classification decisions made by individual funds.

Methodology

Commitments and disbursements are matched at project level and tagged by adaptation sub-sector using a Rio-marker-derived internal classification.

The full construction, weighting choices and coding rules are documented in the public codebook released with each version, and the dataset is published under a CC BY 4.0 licence.
